Introduction:
The Programs Finance Committee has opted not to maintain the current service level at the Student Recreation Center. The Programs Finance Committee has allocated 1,080,243, when the Student Recreation Center needs 1,305,824, to maintain current services. This leaves the Student Recreation Center in a deficit of -225,581, simply to meet projected operation costs for the 2007-08 academic school year.
Question:
Do you support having the Student Recreation Center becoming a separate entity no longer funded by the incidental-fee but by a separate institutional-fee overseen by the Student Recreation Center Advisory Board, a group of students elected from the student body at large in order to maintain current services provided by the Student Recreation Center?
Why this Referendum Matters?
This referendum matters for many reasons. One, that the SRC is an valuable part of the University of Oregon experience. We, the students who are petitioning this referendum believe that the SRC is not something students want to see decline. The services the SRC currently offers should be the minimum it is able to offer in the future.
